Day 2 - A King is coming!

Day 2, and we're still with the prophets.  This time we see what God had to say about the birth of Christ through 2 of the better known Prophets with a reading from Isaiah, and from Jeremiah.  They were both porphets who often brought messages of Judgement to the people of Judah, who had a habit of not listening(....hhhmmmmmm.........people not listening........... BCF Youth, can't quite decide what they link is there, but I'm sure there is one!!!!!!)  In these readings however, we see them bringing messages of hope about the coming of a King who will rule in righteousness.

Isaiah 11:1-2

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord

Jeremiah 23:5-6

“For the time is coming,”
says the Lord,
“when I will raise up a righteous descendant[a]
from King David’s line.
He will be a King who rules with wisdom.
He will do what is just and right throughout the land.
6 And this will be his name:
‘The Lord Is Our Righteousness.’[b]
In that day Judah will be saved,
and Israel will live in safety.

Prize Challenge

Here is a picture of Isaiah painted by Michelangelo on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.  Painting on ceilings was new skill he had to learn when he landed this job, so todays challenge is to get a paper and pencils, lie on the floor under a table, attach the paper to the underneath of the table (a bit of blue tack or sellotape would help here) and then draw a picture of somebody who you listen to.

Once you have completed this, and taken time to admire you artwork, take a quick piccie and post here, or keep hold of it, and let me see it next week.

Have fun!!!!
